Anyone Can Be a Heimlich Hero

From professional baseball stars to grade-school students, anyone can step in and save someone from choking to death. You don't have to be an adult or a doctor. You won't need muscles and strength. With the right knowledge and know-how, you can prevent a choking death.

Developed by Dr. Henry Heimlich in 1974, the Heimlich maneuver has saved thousands of lives. Created by Deaconess Associations, Inc. (DAI), with support from the Heimlich Institute, Heimlich Heroes is a proven educational program. It teaches children how to properly perform the Heimlich maneuver, and have the power to become a "Super Hero".

Powerful, Interactive Learning

Aimed at young people, kids interactively learn and practice the maneuver on "Heidi" and "Hank" Heimlich. These 42-inch training dolls are designed with an internal diaphragm, lungs and a windpipe. The Heimlich Heroes program is currently being taught in schools, clubs and groups.

DAI and the Heimlich Institute are committed to inspiring a new generation of children to understand their importance in society and power to become a Super Hero. The program is expanding across the nation, reaching growing numbers of children and adults, alike— enabling anyone to become a Heimlich Hero.
